Putting yourself first isn't selfish.

Have you ever noticed the cultural messages that celebrate women for their generosity and selflessness? We often hear things like:

- She puts everyone first.

- She'll do anything for her family.

- She's always there for her kids.

- She's just amazing for how she does everything for everyone.

I love generosity, but I have a problem when women are generous to everyone, except themselves, and feel lost, resentful, stuck, burnt out, and afraid.

Many women are afraid of not fully living and afraid of being seen as selfish if they choose to put themselves first.

So, what does she do?

She takes a hot bath, drinks a glass of wine, and calls it "self-care" when, in reality, it's a far cry from nurturing her soul. It's usually a time to check-out before she "clocks back in" to her role as a wife, mom, business owner, or household manager.

Listen, putting yourself first isn't selfish.

When did you take a backseat to your own life? To your own dreams and desires?

The truth is, being generous to yourself is an act of authenticity, self-preservation, and love. In fact, it's one of the best ways to nurture your well-being and ultimately share more of yourself with those you care about, which is being generous to both yourself and them.

So, how can you be generous to yourself? It's quite simple. Listen to your inner voice and honor what feels like a resounding "NO" or an enthusiastic "YES!"

If there's something on your calendar that you really don't want to do, be generous to yourself by giving yourself permission to back out of it. Your time and energy are precious, and you deserve to spend them on what truly matters to you.

On the flip side, when you're thinking about something you'd love to do, don't hesitate - just do it! This isn't selfish; it's an act of self-love and self-care. When you're kind to yourself, you're also kind to everyone you love because your happiness and fulfillment radiate outward.

So, let's remember that being generous to yourself is a powerful and positive force that not only enriches your life but also spreads warmth to others. It's time to prioritize your well-being and happiness because you deserve it!

Best,

Sarah
